  21.    Audio Evolution is an audio harddisk recording system primarily aimed at
  22.    musicians who want an easy-to-use multitrack recorder for home-studio
  23.    applications. It's based on the AHI system by Martin Blom, which makes
  24.    it possible to run Audio Evolution on every modern soundcard designed for
  25.    Amiga computers. Because of the efficient mixing routines of AHI, it's
  26.    possible to play up to 30 tracks at the same time on expanded systems,
  27.    even without PowerPC technology. But that's not what makes it a good
  28.    harddisk recording system: Audio Evolution also offers a versatile mixing
  29.    desk including individual channel and master level display, mute, solo,
  30.    panning, subgroups and realtime effects. Besides that, full mixer automation
  31.    gives you mixing possibilities only limited by your imagination. Also take
  32.    a look at the timeline display with its marker system for fast positioning
  33.    in the song, locators and punch in/out features which saves you precious
  34.    time in your recording session.

  36.    Features of Audio Evolution:

  38.    - Up to 30 (stereo) samples simultaneously. 
  39.      The amount of samples you can actually play depends on:
  40.  
  41.         * Processor power: since all the mixing is done by the processor,
  42.           more channels can be mixed at higher frequencies on faster
  43.           processors.
  44.         * Speed of your harddisk and harddisk-controller. SCSI is
  45.           preferred.
  46.         * The AHI-mode you have selected. Is it a stereo mode, stereo++
  47.           mode with panning, fast mode etcetera?

  49.    - Full duplex playback and record: if your soundcard allows it, you can play
  50.      back samples while recording.

  52.    - A mixing desk provides you with realtime control over volume, panning, solo
  53.      and mute per channel. Every channel has a separate volume PPM display.
  54.      Also three realtime effects can be plugged in and the channel can be 
  55.      assigned to one of four subgroups.
  56.      A mastervolume slider and a stereo master volume indicator are present too.
  57.    
  58.    - Separate window for 4 subgroups with solo and mute per group.

  60.    - Full mixer-automation based on event-list: channel faders, panning,
  61.      mutes, master volume, subgroup volumes and subgroup mutes can be automated.
  62.      Automation events can be edited directly on the timeline.

  64.    - Realtime effects with the following runtime (near real-time) possibilities:

  66.         * Parameter change
  67.         * On/off state switch
  68.         * Removal of effects
  69.         
  70.      Also, possible CPU overload is detected, preventing lock-ups during playback.

  72.    - A Time Line Display provides you with an overview of the loaded samples and
  73.      their durations. Samples can be moved along the timeline.

  75.    - A marker mechanism on top of the timeline lets you place locators, punch in/out
  76.      markers and the time marker easily, giving quick and accurate access to
  77.      these items.

  79.    - Sample-editing with the usual features like cut,paste,copy,erase range. Direct
  80.      to disk, not limited by memory.

  82.    - Effects like Delay, Noise Gate, Chorus, Comp/Limiter, Amplifier, Frequency filters
  83.      and FIR-filters can be applied.

  85.    - MIDI synchronisation: by sending a MIDI start-command and a Song Position
  86.      Pointer, you can synchronize audio with an external MIDI sequencer. You
  87.      can also receive MIDI start-commands, synchronize to Bars&Pipes or to the
  88.      camd.library.
